How to get help if you're having trouble paying off your credit card

While we're in the early stages of releasing our credit card out into the world, we'll be making our eligibility checks available in the app over the coming months – so keep your eyes peeled.

What is an overdue amount and how do I repay it?

An amount is shown as 'overdue' if it hasn't been repaid by the due date shown on your monthly statement. To repay an overdue amount:

  1. Open your credit card account in the app
  2. Note the amount shown next to 'Overdue'
  3. Tap 'Repay'
  4. Tap 'From a Chase account' under 'One-off'
  5. Choose 'Overdue' next to 'Amount'
  6. Tap 'Repay'

What is the impact of late payments?

The short-term impact of a late payment is being charged a late fee. At Chase, we charge £12 when you miss a repayment on your credit card, and this will show up on your next statement. If you continue to miss or be late with your repayments, you may incur more late fees and be charged additional interest.

There are a few longer-term consequences of missing or being late with your repayments, such as:

  • You may lose the promotional 0% APR purchase rate, as one of the conditions of this offer is making repayments on time
  • Missed or late payments may show up on your credit report and stay on there for up to 6 years
  • Your credit score might decrease as payment history has an impact on it
