Is there a limit to how much cashback I can earn?

You can earn 1% cashback on the first £1,500 of your eligible UK spend each month. This means up to £15 cashback on your everyday debit card spending. Exceptions apply.

What can I earn cashback on?

Prior to 7th April 2025 there are a few exceptions. For example, you won’t earn cashback when you use your debit card to pay for items in antique shops, estate agent fees, or for gambling and betting. Here's a full list of exclusions.

From 7th April 2025 onwards, you will earn cashback on GBP sterling payments made in the UK and the Channel Islands (Bailiwicks of Jersey and Guernsey) when making debit card payments for the following:

Groceries

e.g. Grocery stores and supermarkets, miscellaneous food stores, convenience stores and specialty markets

Everyday Transport

e.g. Local and suburban commuter passenger transportation (incl. ferries), bus lines (incl. charter/tour buses), railroads and passenger rail (train)

Fuel and Electric Charging

e.g. service stations (with or without ancillary services), automated fuel dispensers and electric vehicle charging points

Other forms of transactions, including, but not limited to, direct debit payments, credit card transactions, or bank transfers, will not be eligible for cashback.

How do we identify an eligible transaction?

Merchants are given a specific code based on the type of things they sell. This is called a Merchant Category Code (MCC). We use the MCC to work out whether you can earn cashback on a transaction.

We don’t control what type of code a merchant is given. So, in some cases, a merchant might sell something that seems eligible for cashback but because of the merchant’s category code, the transaction isn’t eligible.

If you would like to see which MCCs are included, they can be found here.

When will I receive any cashback I’ve earned?

We'll credit your rewards balance with cashback after the relevant debit card payment has cleared.

We’ll round your cashback earned to the nearest penny.

Will I receive cashback if I use a third-party wallet?

We only support Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal. All other third-party wallets are not supported.

Will you ever deduct cashback after you've given it to me?

We won't give you cashback in relation to debit card payments for anything that you later cancel or return for a refund. If we've already credited your rewards balance with cashback, we will deduct the relevant amount from your rewards balance.

How can I redeem the cashback I’ve earned?

You can transfer your rewards balance to an account you hold with us. You’re then free to use it as you wish.

You must redeem any rewards balance you have before you initiate the closure of your last current account with us. If you don’t, you won’t be able to redeem the rewards balance later.

How long will I receive cashback for?

We'll offer cashback for a period of 12 months from the date you activate cashback.

However, if we do stop running the promotion earlier for any reason, we'll tell you 30 days before it ends. We might stop you earning cashback at the point we give you notice.

To keep earning cashback during the promotion, you'll need to have an active account with us and keep to the General Account Terms and Conditions.

If you’re unsure as to the cashback offer active on your account, please refer to the “Rewards” section within the Chase app.

Will you ever change how you offer cashback?

We might need to make changes to the way we offer cashback. That could mean changes to how you earn cashback, how much cashback we'll offer or the period of this promotion. We might also make other changes.

We’ll let you know if we make any changes – usually 30 days before it happens.

Can I opt out of cashback?

If you don't want to receive cashback, you can opt out of rewards in the app. If you have any other questions please call or message us by tapping ‘Support’ in the app.
